Who is Feride Büyükdenktas?

Turkish mezzo-soprano Feride Büyükdenktas won her country’s most important singing competitions before nurturing her international career at the Kunstuniversität Graz with Ulf Bästlein and Holger Falk. She has appeared on opera stages in Stuttgart, Klagenfurt and Graz, and was also engaged by the State Opera of Istanbul.

Her roles include Cherubino in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Annio in Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito and Bradamante in Handel’s Alcina, with conductors such as Keri-Lynn Wilson, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Christoph Eschenbach and Helmuth Rilling.

Büyükdenktas has a great love for German lieder, and has taken masterclasses from renowned lieder singers such as Brigitte Fassbaender, Roberta Alexander and Christoph Prégardien. Her regular recital partners are Julius Drake and Charles Spencer. She has performed in the Wiener Konzerthaus, and in Schleswig-Holstein, where she won the Nordfriesische Liedpreis.

Her Concertgebouw debut was in 2022 in the Recital Hall, also with Drake.
